The Organized Gardner

Welcome Everyone,

I have a guest writer this month, my mom, sharing some of her tips on being an organized gardener.

She's guest writing for two good reasons. One, I've been on vacation, and two, she knows about gardening and I don't. (Mom is holding out hope that one day I will pick up her torch.)

My mom owned a plant nursery for fourteen years, specializing in perennials, herbs and heather. She currently does consulting and design work for home gardeners. Enjoy her gardening tips!

1. Buy gloves by the dozen (http://www.gemplers.com/); the kind that fit either hand will give more mileage, and you will always have a clean pair.

2. Cut nylon stockings into strips to tie tomato plants and vines to supports. Soft and giving, they won't cut into the stems.

3. Thread plastic wire (available in hardware stores) through the holes in the handles of small garden tools. Hang the tools on the handles of the wheelbarrow when you set out to work in the garden.

4. Use plastic flat trays to collect weeds. They are lightweight to pull along with you, and when they are full, it's easy to dump the contents into the wheelbarrow.

5. Compost those weeds.

6. Stretch and flex your body before and during prolonged gardening chores.

Please check some new before and after pictures I have on my website, www.chaosconsultants.com I am also extending my summer-time special of a FREE introductory one hour of organizing until August 15th because many of you were not able to book in July. Call me now to find out exactly what Chaos Consultants can do for you. Enjoy the summer, Jen
