Tag Sale Mania

By Jennifer Doyle

Have you noticed how many self-storage areas are cropping up all over Connecticut? Maybe it’s the organizer in me that notices these concrete structures that are full of yesterday’s must haves. One good way to combat the storage fees is to have a tag sale. Sell the stuff, make some cash, and stop paying the monthly charges. Here are four reasons why having a tag sale is a good idea. Make Money: Having a tag sale is a great way to make some cash with those unwanted items that you may have just dumped in the garbage anyway. With a little advertising and a good location you’ll be able to line your pockets with enough money to pay for a trip to the Home Depot. Another man’s junk…

Make Room: Every time you throw a load of laundry in are you tripping over your roller blades that you had to have in the 90’s? Gather all of those toys that you swore you would use every weekend and price them up. Selling them will give you extra cash to invest in a hobby that you really enjoy instead of being scattered about. The extra space you will create will work wonders for your psyche.

Make Friends: Becoming friendly with our neighbors isn’t very easy these days. By hosting a tag sale you could be sure that your neighbors will show up just to be nosy and see what kind of good stuff you have! You could also organize a neighborhood sale and sit back to see what kind of great response you will have. Either way it’s a bonding experience that will enable you to share with your community.

Make a Point: Get your kids in on the act by having them gather some of their toys that they are no longer using. Kids become overwhelmed with their things just as easily as we do. With a room full of toys it’s hard to make choices on what to play with. Sell some of their toys and let them keep the profit. They will learn the value of money and of their possessions. If this is not an interest to them they can also set up a lemonade stand. The tag sale will thrive as well as their lemonade stand!
